this is a website about my experience making a website! it's mostly just for practice.
you can learn just about anything with just a computer and an internet connection!
In December 2016, I decided to learn more about computers and the internet. Starting with barely any knowledge on the subject, I have learned a lot in the past year. however the subject is broad, and its scope and depth is growing every day. The first thing I did was complete a series of exercises from the internet on programming in python. The site was a previous incarnation of Zed, which now looks much slicker than it does in my memory.
I actually first thought about programming in 2006 - did some basic math, wrote "hello world!" but didnt really understand the world well enough to realize the value of learning more or making a serious study of it. 2015 my interest was again piqued, and I read a book code authored by petzold that did a pretty good job of explaining some of the basic concepts computers are built upon. I would like to write a book in it's style introducing computers and computing from the ground up. Wikipedia is a great source for general information but is sometimes too technical to be easily accessible.
google is your friend too - but you need to know what to search for and how to sort through your results. There are also a number of search types beyond the basic one that are useful.
So I asked Bob about quotations on the Web and he said I know as much about quotations as I do about pigeon fancying
. Luckily, I found HTML Dog and it said:
the real trick is in knowing where to look! There are many unreliable sources of information on the internet.
